The Kennicott House, which is a National Historic Landmark, is located in The Grove, a 123 acre prairie that also boasts an interpretive center (with snakes, snapping turtles and skunks) and miles of nature trails. The Kennicott House and surrounding land was owned by Dr. John Kennicott. The Kennicott family settled here in 1836 from New Orleans, and lived in a log cabin until the Kennicott House was built in 1856. John Kennicott was influential in the advancement of horticulture in Illinois.

John's son, Robert Kennicott's research lead to the purchase of Alaska, and he was a founder of the Chicago Academy of Sciences. Robert's brothers, Flint and Amasa, started Kennicott Brothers floral distribution company in 1886, which is still in business today.

Wagner Farm is an 18.6-acre farm owned by the Glenview Park District since 2000 to preserve it as an historic working farm. The farm offers hands-on programs, including horseback riding and tractor driving, and other activities that reflect farm life in the 1920s. Wagner Farm was part of a larger farm, owned by the Wagner family since their arrival from Trier, Germany in the 1850s.

In 2007, Wagner Farm became home to the Glenview Farmer's Market and had over 54,000 visitors. Based on Wagner Farm's "truck" farming history, a market wagon is on display in the museum. The Farmer's Market is open on Saturdays from late June to early October and is located across the street from Wagner Farm. The Market also hosts different musical artists each week.
