How We Started

How We Started Fixing Wet Walls and Buildings

How WickRight Was Invented...

WickRight’s founder, Bob Kelly, is a 35-year veteran General Contractor, Master Carpenter, Historic Preservationist, Inventor and life-long student of Building Science. The first 20 years of his career, Bob remodeled and fixed historic homes in Chicago's North Shore and Northwest suburbs. Working on historic buildings required him to find innovative solutions for a wide variety of exterior and interior issues.

In 2010, Bob started getting calls from Home Inspectors and Building Owners about newer masonry buildings in Chicago – specifically
Split Face Block and Brick buildings – with mysterious, persistent leaks that were damaging baseboards, crown molding and wood floors and causing mold to grow on drywall. His focus since 2010 has been finding the sources of this moisture intrusion and water damage and inventing practical solutions to fix the issues permanently.

Bob worked with other tradespeople, home inspectors, building scientists and product testing labs to develop WickRight Passive Ventilation® Systems, which is a line of flashing and passive ventilation devices that protect buildings, but also let moisture vapor escape to dry out wet buildings and keep them dry.

If your building has a moisture intrusion issue, call a home inspector or WickRight today.
